You have earned your degree, and along the way you have gained the knowledge and skills that will enable you to face public health challenges, implement programs, conduct research, and build a healthier more equitable world!
We know that in your future career you will continue our mission to promote the health and wellness of individuals and communities, in the southwest and globally, and to continue the push for health equity through excellence in service, education, and research.
A Message from Dr. Iman Hakim, Dean of MEZCOPH
As Dean of the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, I am so proud of you all.
Each of you has worked hard to earn your degree, and I commend your effort. You have also accomplished that work during an unusually difficult time for our university, our country, and our world. I celebrate you for your resilience to stay strong and focused during this challenging time.
I wish you every success as you go forward into the world, with passion and dedication, to face the public health challenges of today and tomorrow… and always remember the three P’s of Public Health: Prevention, Promotion and Protection!

2023 Graduating Student Profiles
Karyn Bloxham
MPH, Health Promotion
While working full time, Karyn also did an internship with the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, served on college committees, and earned her Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Health.
Paola Felix Cuamea
BS Public Health, Health Systems Theory & Practice
Throughout her undergraduate career, Paola served as a MEZCOPH Public Health Ambassador, an intern for Nosotros Comprometidos a Su Salud, and volunteered at a health clinic with Mex-Zona in Mexico.
Rebia Khan
MD/MPH
Rebia completed her MPH internship with the Arizona Dept. of Health Services on a project investigating COVID in captive wildlife in Arizona, and additionally accomplished a six-week rotation with the CDC's Epidemiology Elective Program.
Kimberly Lakocy
MPH, Health Behavior Health Promotion
Kim worked with the Grow 2B Fit Foundation in Tucson, Arizona for her internship, even while she worked full-time as a nurse at the University of New Mexico Senior Health Center.
Braydon Mathis
BS Public Health, Health Systems Theory & Practice
Braydon served as a MEZCOPH Public Health Ambassador, a student lead for the Partnerships Through Honors Leadership and Mentorship Program, and served on the executive team for the Student Health Advocacy Committee within the Associated Students of the University of Arizona (ASUA) student government.
