Biography
Dr. Harvey is an experimental psychologist with training in visual perception and development, and 18 years of experience in assessment of vision and refractive error in infants and children. Her research focuses on the study of normal and abnormal visual development in infants and school-age children. Her research includes epidemiological studies on prevalence of refractive errors, clinical studies on treatment of amblyopia, studies on assessment of vision in infants and children, and the development, design, and validation of novel optical equipment for use with young children. Dr. Harvey has been the principal investigator a program of research titled “Amblyopia in Astigmatic Children: Development and Treatment”, and has been funded for this research by the National Institutes of Health/National Eye Institute since 2002. The aim of the research is to assess visual development and longitudinal refractive error changes in Tohono O’odham children who have a high prevalence of astigmatism.
