Rachel L. Zenuk received the outstanding Master in Public Health student award from the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona, during Spring 2010 commencement.
She was recently honored by the American Association of Cancer Research with the Minority Scholar in Cancer Research Award. Zenuk is one of 25 early-career cancer researchers nationwide to receive the award which provides funding to attend the American Association of Cancer Research annual meeting.
Zenuk is a Komen fellow in the Arizona Cancer Centers Breast Cancer Disparities post-baccalaureate training program. She is working on the ELLA Binational Breast Cancer Study, the first study of its kind to compare breast cancer in women of Mexican ancestry on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border to better understand their risk for specific types of breast cancer. Zenuk conducts research into factors that influence screening mammography among African American and Hispanic women with breast cancer.
