Public Health experts from the nations capitol gathered at the University of Arizonas Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health on November 30, 2010, to discuss the critical national and global health issues of the day.
From the Millennium Development Goals identified by the World Health Organization and globesity to terrorism and preparedness, members of the Tucson community and across the University campus were invited to join the conversation from 4-6 p.m. in Drachman Hall.
Distinguished guests included public health and policy insiders Kavita Patel, M.D., M.S., and RADM David Rutstein, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Patel is director of Health Policy for the New America Foundation and the former Director of Policy for the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs under President Barack Obama.
Dr. Rutstein is former Acting Deputy Surgeon General. He is a clinician, public health expert and senior health executive who has created and led innovative clinical, administrative, management, emergency response and executive level teams and organizations within the Federal government.
Richard Carmona, M.D., M.P.H., FACS, 17th Surgeon General of the United States, served as moderator. Dr. Carmona is president of Canyon Ranch Institute and distinguished professor at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
