Migration and public health is the topic of the 13th annual Social Justice Symposium Friday, April 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, 1295 N. Martin Ave., Drachman Hall. The event is free and open to the public. 

The theme of the symposium is, Bridges & Barriers: Migration and Public Health. The keynote speaker is Enrique Morones, founder and director of San Diego-based Border Angels, an organization that advocates for human rights, humane immigration reform, and social justice with a special focus on issues related to the United States-Mexico border. The keynote will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Duval Auditorium at Banner-University of Arizona Medical Center – Tucson, 1501 N. Campbell Ave. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

To kick-off the symposium, a free screening of the documentary film "Health Undocumented," followed by a panel discussion, will be held Thursday, April 4, from 6-9 p.m. at the UA Health Science Innovation Building, 1670 E. Drachman St. 

The Social Justice Symposium is designed to engage students, faculty members, community members and health professionals in a dialogue to raise awareness and foster social change. The event is managed entirely by students of the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
