Alumni reception in Washington DC brings together regional alumni with Dean Hakim

Many of our alumni from the Washington DC region gathered with Dean Hakim at a recent event in DC to connect with each other and look ahead to this year’s celebrations for the college’s 25th Anniversary.
In March, alumni of the University of Arizona’s Zuckerman College of Public Health gathered in Washington, DC, for an intimate reception with Dean Hakim. The event brought together a vibrant community of alumni and served as a moment to reflect on the college's remarkable impact in the field of public health. It also set the stage for the college's upcoming 25th Anniversary celebrations later this year.
As guests mingled and reconnected, the evening provided a platform for the college to share exciting news about the 25th anniversary events planned for later in the year. The college announced an alumni reception that will take place on Sunday, November 2, in Washington, DC, timed to coincide with the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting. This reception promises to be a memorable occasion for DC-area alumni to gather and celebrate the college’s quarter-century of success in public health education.
The college also announced the 25th Anniversary Gala event in Tucson, which will take place on Friday, November 7, during the University of Arizona’s Homecoming weekend. This elegant event will honor the achievements of the Zuckerman College of Public Health and provide alumni, faculty, partners, and supporters an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of the college and its influence on public health both regionally and globally.
In addition to the event announcements, a key moment of the evening was the spotlight on the 25 for 25 Alumni Giving Circle Campaign. The Washington DC alumni community is taking the lead in this important fundraising effort, with six generous individuals stepping forward to make donations in support of the college’s future initiatives:
- Beatrice Abiero PhD, BS ’11
- Mallorie Fiero PhD ’16 and Eric Fiero MM ’16
- Kris Hatlelid PhD ’96, MPH ’98
- Natalie LaHood MPH ’14, MIB
- Mary Roary PhD ’08
Thank you to our supporters! Their contributions to the 25 for 25 Alumni Giving Circle Campaign will help shape the future of public health through mentorship, speaking opportunities, and networking events that engage students and alumni while contributing to the college's growth and development of future public health leaders.
As the evening concluded, alumni left with a renewed sense of community and excitement for the year ahead, knowing that the 25th anniversary celebrations will be a time to honor the past, present, and future of the Zuckerman College of Public Health.
Here's to the next 25 years of advancing public health, inspiring change, and making a difference across the globe!
