The dedicated staff of the Office of Student & Alumni Affairs at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health were awarded the 2012 University of Arizona Functional Working Team award. Since fall 2009, the team has been instrumental in many of the college’s successes, including exponential increases in graduate and undergraduate enrollment, the launch of new programs in Phoenix, the inauguration of multiple certificate programs and a new doctoral program in environmental health. In addition to advising about 2,000 students, the team provides faculty members with data and practical guidance on student progress and manages orientations, convocations and alumni activities. Dean Iman Hakim noted that the team’s work is nationally recognized and said other public health schools’ admissions programs look to the UA for guidance.
