The Online MPH degree program offered by the Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona enables working professionals to earn their MPH, a next-step in an education designed to expand their abilities and advance their careers.
The program, CEPH-accredited and delivered by expert faculty, includes an individualized internship or applied practice experience. This experience enables students to apply what they have learned in real-world settings and gain the practical knowledge and skills that will help them in their current or new careers.

Jazmin Villavicencio
MPH ’23, Health Services Administration
"In the role as Research Operations Management intern for my applied practice experience, I was able to contributed to the improvement of their grant submission process and acquired the skills I wanted in learning to manage budgets and creating grant proposals."
Jazmin Villavicencio is a member of the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe and of Mexican origin. She is originally from Rio Rico, AZ, and graduated with an MPH in Health Services Administration. She completed her MPH applied practice experience at Arizona State University, New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences in which she monitored, evaluated, and recommended solutions to improve their grant proposal submission process. Jazmin currently works as a Program Manager for the University of Arizona & Banner Health All of US Research Program, and the Undergraduate Readying for Burgeoning Research for American Indian Neuroscientists (URBrain) Program. Jazmin previously graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in Public Health, Mexican American Studies and Spanish Translation and Interpretation. With her degree, she hopes to improve the quality of health services provided to individuals in rural and disadvantage communities in order to more efficiently address health disparities.
Chad Peterson
MPH ’23, Applied Epidemiology
"For my applied practice experience, I mapped out community resources and needs to help understand what additional services can maximize opportunities for residents to improve their mental health. Being part of a larger resource mapping initiative gave me experience with community health which I am excited to apply to my career."
As a kid growing up with asthma, but heavily involved in outdoor sports, Chad became interested in how an individual’s dynamic health outcome can be heavily dependent on the opportunities provided by their community. At the Zuckerman College of Public Health, he was able to learn more about how community vulnerabilities and services shape the health of an individual. To understand this dimension of health more thoroughly, Chad jumped at the opportunity to join the Mental Health Workgroup at Graham County Health Department for his applied practice experience project, “Social Vulnerability Determinants of Mental Health.” His project involved using the national Social Vulnerability Index database for mapping key social vulnerability indexes within and around Graham County, Arizona and will help the county understand what additional services will maximize opportunities for residents to improve their mental health.

Holly Daverin
MPH ’22, Health Behavior Health Promotion

Along with the online format, learning and exercising time management skills was essential to my success."
Holly Daverin is a recent graduate of Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health with a concentration in Health Behavior Health Promotion. While completing her on-line master's degree in Juneau, AK, she maintained a full-time position as a commissioned officer for the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). As a dental hygienist, her public health career has primarily focused on dental health prevention for American Indian and Alaska Native youth. Holly's graduate internship reflected her dental background by centering research on improving oral hygiene for the orthodontic patients of SouthEast Alaska's Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). Obtaining an MPH has afforded her the expanded education and sense of empowerment she needed to fulfill her lifelong commitment to positively impact the health and well-being of the communities she serves.

Corrin Schweer

Prior to embarking on her official public health journey, Corrin worked at Barrow Neurological Institute, primarily in study design and data analysis. Currently, she works for Phoenix Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders where she conducts regulatory compliance on their phase I/II clinical trials. During her time as a public health graduate student, she interned with Phoenix Children’s Department of Enterprise Services as a Process Improvement Intern. Professionally, she is interested in continuous quality improvement measures and their impact on the vitality of healthcare organizations.
