Francisco Garcia, MD, MPH, will host a free one-hour seminar with the most current information on the human papilloma virus (HPV) — the virus that can cause cervical cancer.
The seminar will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 from 7-8 p.m. at the Pima County Tucson Women's Commission, 240 N. Court Ave. in downtown Tucson.
Dr. Garcia is professor of family and child health at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and director of the Center of Excellence in Women's Health. He is also a UA Cancer Center member. Garcia is one of the leading international experts in cervical cancer and will discuss screening guidelines, the prophylactic HPV vaccines and health disparities related to cervical cancer and local efforts to reduce health disparities.
